The novel would forcibly configure stomach-churning images in my mind. With vivid descriptions of violence and claustrophobic portrayals of the characters’ struggles, one should have high tolerance for disturbing content in order to fully enjoy this amazing thriller.
Reviews of danmei novels that left an impression on me
What I love most about this story is that the angst never intensifies for angst’s sake. Just when the story makes you feel like you’re on the edge of a cliff, on the verge of falling, the author pulls you back and throws you into a pile of flowers. Your heart that was rising to your throat would fall back in place, and everything would feel right in the world.
If You Don’t Fall in Love, You’ll Die is a very fun and light-hearted romance story about Ye Chen falling in love with Ren Jing as he carries out the shameless tasks issued by the Death System. There was never one chapter that I wasn’t laughing at Ye Chen’s stupid antics and excuses whenever he does a task.
What I like most about this novel is that, despite it being light-hearted, it doesn’t lack on plot, depth, and angst. There’s papapa, yes, and lots of it too, but it’s not all about it. We get to see the main couple slowly seeing each other in a different light, struggling with their feelings, before finally allowing themselves to love and be loved.
